Live, learn, and work at Huron

January 19, 2017
For students looking for a way to actively contribute to and enhance student life at Huron--students who embody Leadership with Heart--involvement in Residence Life is a great option.

Currently, Residence Life is hiring Dons for the 2017-18 academic year. This position, held by upper-year undergraduate students, requires successful applicants to live in residence and help  develop a community that is supportive of the academic and personal goals of students.

Dons are role models and peer mentors to approximately 30 students, and must plan residence activities and ensure that residence policy is being followed. This is considered to be one of the most prestigious and rewarding leadership opportunities a student can have.

Residence Life has released a series of posters to help raise awareness about this enriching experience. Some quick facts include:
  • Each Don runs 10 events per year and gains valuable experience planning events
  • Dons learn trasnferable skills in conflict and crisis management, writte and verbal communication skills, inter-departmental collaboration, and leadership
  • Dons help foster and create community, hosting over 25 staff socials and dinners
  • Dons and Sophs work closely together throughout the year, ensuring that first years have the best possible start to their time at Huron
  • Residence Life provides Dons with valuable professional development opportunities, helping staff prepare for life beyond Huron
Leadership with Heart means community, and it means taking care of one another. Apply today to be a Don! Applications are due February 6. More information is available at the link.
