Diocese of Huron Archives Volunteer

Career Development

Volunteer Role Overview

The Huron Diocese Archives is seeking volunteers from May – August 2019 to complement their staff team. Canon Law requires all churches in the diocese to deposit their older records on a regular basis, as well as deposit all records when churches are closed. The Huron Diocese Archives is currently experiencing a backlog of unprocessed materials from functioning, non-functioning (chapels of ease), and closed churches and requires volunteer support to process the backlogged materials by creating work logs and completing data entry tasks.

Volunteers are asked to commit to volunteering from May 2019 – August 2019. Flexible scheduling can be accommodated.

Qualifications:

  • Experience with computer data entry an asset
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent written communication skills, which will be required for creating work records
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team of archivists and volunteers
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • An interest in learning about the Huron Diocese Archives and/or the Archivist position
