Research Fellowship, Huron Community History Centre

History Department

The successful candidate will join the SSHRC-funded project, Finding Christ Church: Social Justice in History, Memory, and Contemporary Practice, 1819-2019, a collaboration among Huron’s Community History Centre, the Centre for Public Theology at Huron, and the people of Christ Church, Chatham.

Duties will include:

  • archival research
  • building an accessible digital archive of research material (training provided)
  • liaising with the local community
  • assisting with the organizing of public events, including a “Living Library” event on June 1, and planning the project conference
  • updating the project’s social media accounts
  • miscellaneous duties as required 

Preferred Qualifications

Education:

  • Must be registered at Huron University College as an undergraduate or professional degree student in a minimum 60% course load (40% course load for students with disabilities).
  • Previous studies in History, or completion of HIST2811F/G and HIST3801E, or some equivalent combination of coursework, would be a distinct asset

Skills, Abilities & Expertise:

  • An ideal candidate for this position will have experience in website development (wordpress or omeka), and an interest in public theology and/or public history
