I hope to help students better understand the stories through which they make sense of the world, introduce them to new stories, and communicate their knowledge more effectively

Students taking courses in English and Cultural Studies at Huron study a wide variety of texts and gain a broad understanding of how literary expression intersects with all other aspects of personal and civil life. In addition to bringing joy, studying and creating art can heal past damage and improve future social relations.

Summary of Research:

  • Constructions of Race in American Literature
  • The contemporary novel
  • American Literature and Social Movements
  • Literature and borders.
